CNC ROUTER – Our computerized (CAD-CAM) router table is used to router cut exact shapes, cut out lettersCNC groove and logos, and carve “V-groove” lettering and logos in our signs (using our 3-D software). Cutting by CAD-CAM ensures that each sign is exactly to size, shapes are perfectly cut, and multiple signs are exact replicas

Typical application usage procedure

Creating your layout
Computer files are supplied by you, the customer, or are created in-house by our design department. The files are saved in “vector” format which means that the letters and shapes are created using a series of paths and nodes that the CNC router can interpret.

Scaling your geometry / contours
The material is CNC cut to exact shape, creating the “Sign Shape.” The sign shape then goes through a three stage priming and sanding process. Then, what will be the final background color is applied in our spray booth. After ample cure time, we then apply an adhesive film or ‘mask’ over the entire top surface to protect the sign blank.

Placement of contours
The masked sign shape is mounted on one of our CNC router tables, which vacuums it in place for perfect accuracy. From there, the CNC table interprets g-code produced by the design computer and performs all CNC routing tasks.

CNC Programming
The CNC router bit cuts through the protective film, exposing the raw sign blank material below. Once the CNC Machine is complete, we then spray the entire surface with three coats of primer to seal the exposed areas. Once that step is fully cured, we then apply all colors to the graphic elements (why we needed the protective film). After all this is done and allowed ample time to dry, we remove the protective film, revealing a beautiful dimensional sign.

WARRANTY
HDU unfinished is warranted for 10 years, indoor or out, against deterioration, warping, and cracking. It is 100% waterproof, unaffected by temperature and will not rot or decompose. High Density Urethane material is preferable on most projects, and is a must on outdoor sign projects.
ADVANTAGES
HDU will not warp, crack, or bow like solid wood when exposed to the elements. It is slightly lighter that wood, which might be a consideration for a suspended sign, and saves in shipping. HDU 3d Sign Factory can be seamlessly laminated together to create any size shape or form.
DISADVANTAGES
HDU is slightly flexible, which might cause problems on long, narrow signs. If a dimensional sign is going between posts, or in a situation where it might take abuse from wind or pedestrians, consider having us laminate a backing board for reinforcement.
